Dear YT Families,
This month, York Township Elementary will be embarking on a reading adventure as we begin reading the book, Nuts to You! Every family will receive a copy of the book and will be asked to read it at home over the next six weeks. Your child will receive a copy of the book to bring home today! Your child is also bringing home a tailored reading schedule and questions to discuss as a family in order to foster an understanding of the book.
Reading aloud to your child is valuable because it allows him/her to develop a love of reading, while also building vocabulary and comprehension. We are excited to build a community of readers during this special program, as students, parents, teachers, and even the administrative staff will be participating in the reading of Nuts to You!
In school, your child will be invited to answer daily trivia questions to encourage and celebrate attentive listening. It is our hope that you will see your child taking pride in knowing and anticipating the details in the story. In class, there will be various activities which discuss or explore the book to foster a community of readers throughout the project.
