Dr. Rachel Santiago-Jones is honored to serve as principal of York Township Elementary after spending the past four years as the school's assistant principal. As she begins her 13th year in education, she is excited to continue partnering with students, families, and staff to make York Township a place where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired

Dr. Santiago-Jones began her career as a sixth- eighth grade Intensive Learning Support paraprofessional before becoming a fourth grade and third grade teacher. She later served as an assistant principal for six years, including the past four years at York Township Elementary. These experiences have shaped her belief that strong relationships, high expectations, and a positive school culture help every child succeed.

At York Township, our YT3 expectations, Respectful, Responsible, and Safe, guide everything we do. Dr. Santiago-Jones loves building relationships with students and is proud to work alongside a dedicated staff committed to helping every child grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Dr. Santiago-Jones earned her bachelor's degree from California University of Pennsylvania with dual certification in Early Childhood Education and Special Education, followed by a master's degree in Educational Leadership. She earned her Doctor of Education in Urban Education from the University of Pittsburgh, Hail to Pitt!

Outside of school, Dr. Santiago-Jones enjoys spending time with her husband, dog, and two sons, cheering them on at concerts and sporting events, boating on the river, relaxing at the beach, and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers. She considers it a privilege to serve the York Township community and looks forward to another wonderful year of learning and growing together.
